His bandmates may be known as the Rotten Liars, but there’s nothing but truth running through Sam Lapides’s veins. His bluesy vocals show plenty of sorrow and regret in his recent song “Kisses in My Pocket”, but a hint of hope peeks through in “Tonight.” Perhaps love will come out on top, or maybe Cupid’s arrow will have missed his target. Either way, this pair of new melodies from Sam Lapides is brimming with heart and soul, just like his contribution to this week’s Shameless Tuesdays!

Since I was a kid I always hummed and had a playlist running in my head of songs I heard.  I was always on the lookout for songs that caught my ear.  It didn’t matter who the artist was, it was more if the song moved me. If the artist wasn’t “cool enough” I listened in private, but always kept my ears on alert looking for something that stoked an emotional response. 

Soon I was writing songs of my own – it seemed like the natural thing to do.

This playlist is a selection of songs and artists that inspired me over the years.  These are the songs that made me obsess, emulate, create, pursue, some times laugh and cry at how amazing and perfect they could be. I only hoped that I could come close with my own songwriting.

I am a singer songwriter from Los Angeles, CA and these are some of the songs that helped me, and continue to help me keep creating.
